It was quite challenging to work with the program IBA, however I tried my best to work my way around its difficulties and find solution to the (many) problems I faced in the program.
Overall, I am quite happy with the final outcome as it fulfills the goals of COMP’s magazine. I believe I stuck with the moodboards I have created in the beginning as well as making my ePub best suited for my target audience / persona.
I do see COMP becoming a real magazine, I believe it has potential to become a unique, original and fun publication.
The most aspect I think is successful in my design is the hand-lettering: I believe it adds to the publications visual aesthetics.
If I would to improve my design, I would make it more messy and chaotic, like an artist studio. However I found that very difficult to fulfill as I am someone who works in a very neat manner with strict rules and order. I tried to create a balance, by using a consistent grid, yet having unplanned hand made lettering. Which I believe gives my work a balance between chaos and order. I don’t believe that every “art” related topic has to have messy visuals. Many artists work in a minimal and tidy approach, which suits both my preference and my persona’s field.
